Chatham Teachers at Summerfest!

Chatham teachers and teaching assistants had a wonderful day on Saturday at the Chatham Summerfest!  We love being a part of such a vibrant and active community.  We wish all of our students a very safe and exciting summer.  Maybe we will see you at the fair!

Our Chili Bowl winners:  Lauren Wheeler, Ashley Keegan and Tim Mead

Chili Bowl!

Come support the Chatham Teachers’ Association (CCSTA) scholarship fund!!!

The CCSTA will be hosting a Chili Bowl on Saturday, February 4th from 1-3pm in the High School Cafeteria.  Chatham teachers will be cooking up their favorite chili recipes to be voted on by you.  Come try all the different types of chili and vote for your favorite dish (or favorite teacher!).  The cost is $2.00 per person and all proceeds help to fund scholarships for graduating seniors.  This fun event helps to support the Chatham's

community and students.

Book Drive

The Chatham Teachers’ Association recently held a book drive and collected almost 500 books for local pre-schools.  Lisa Wenk, Marie Baeckmann and Dawn Elbert collected books from teachers in each building.  The books were then divided and delivered to the local pre-schools.

Make A Wish

CHATHAM CENTRAL SCHOOL TEACHER ASSOCIATION is assisting the Make A Wish foundation with their Adopt-An-Angel campaign this holiday season.  As you know, Make A Wish Foundation grants the wishes of children with life threatening medical conditions.  We have had local children have their wishes granted by this Foundation and we want to give some back from a grateful community.

We are sponsoring Adopt-An-Angel sales at our home basketball and volleyball games with the assistance of sophomore class volunteers.  The students will be able to purchase Angels at lunch or home games for $1.  We encourage Adults to purchase as well for $3.

The elementary is helping raise money by writing letters to Santa for the “Million Reasons to Believe” campaign.  We will deliver the letters to the Macy’s Believe stations at their stores.  For every letter delivered to the Believe station, Macy’s will donate $1 to Make A Wish Foundation up to 1 million dollars.

Please join the Teachers and students of Chatham in granting the wishes of other children with life threatening illnesses.

In a flurry of flour and a torrent of apples being peeled, cored and sliced, members of the Chatham Central Schools Teachers Association  (CCSTA) and interim principal of the middle school, Annnemarie Barkman, came together to make apple pies to donate to the Ghent Food Pantry in time for Thanksgiving distribution. Ghent Food Pantry volunteers and retired CCSTA members, Kathy White and Nancy Hammell helped turn out the more than 30 pies.

The Ghent Food Pantry, located in the Ghent Town Hall on Route 66 in Ghent,  distributed 55 Thanksgiving baskets last year. With a sharp increase in demand, food pantry volunteers expect to distribute upwards of 80 baskets this year. The Ghent Food Pantry serves residents of the town of Ghent and residents of the Chatham Central School District. It is open Monday-Thursday from 9:00-noon. If you have further questions or care to make a donation, please call 392-4644.
